A. ocellatus, also known as Oscar, is a cichlid native to South America where it can be found in Colombia, Peru, Brazil, French Guiana and in the Amazon river basin. It its natural environment, the Oscar preferably inhabits quiet and shallow slow moving white-water where it takes shelter under submerged branches.

Diet: Feeds on small fish, crayfish, worms and insect larvae. Variety is very important. Will accept flake foods, pellet foods, live foods, blood worms, earth worms, vegetables such as romaine lettuce, cucumbers and zucchini. Most experts agree that oscars should not be fed feeder fish. They are not particularly nutritious and carry a huge risk of disease transmission. You only need to feed your Oscar once a day.

موطنها الاصلي : أمريكا الجنوبية حيث يمكن العثور عليها في كولومبيا وبيرو والبرازيل وجويانا الفرنسية وفي حوض نهر الأمازون.
وفي بيئتها الطبيعية ، ويفضل أن يعيش أوسكار في منطقه هادئة وبطيئة الحركة .

الغذاء : يتغذى على الاسماك الصغيرة ، وجراد البحر والديدان ويرقات الحشرات ،

اسماك الاوسكار تعد من الاسماك المعمرة حيث يمتد عمرها من 10 إلى 15 سنة
ولهذا يفضل هواة تربية الاسماك اقتنائها

تتعرف بسهولة على من يطعمها ثم تفتح فمها لالتقاط الطعام مثل الكلب تماما
فهى سمكة ذكية جدا جدا مثل الكلب .
وغالبا ما تصنف سمكة الاوسكار ضمن الاسماك المفترسة وذلك لانها تحب ان تأكل الاسماك الحية الاصغر منها حجما .

و سمكة الاوسكار معروف عنها انها لما تكون مبسوطة الوان جسمها بتظهر
وبتبقى شكلها جميل جدا ولما تكون زعلانة ومتضايقة الوان جسمها بتبهت وبيبقى
شكلها مش حلو .

درجة الحرارة : يفضل درجة حرارة متوسطة وهى 25 ولكن تستطيع سمكة الاوسكار تحمل الحرارة من 23 إلى 28 درجة مئوية
درجة الحموضة (PH) : من 6 إلى 7.5

8 _ Pacu (Piarractus Brachypomum

Origin
South America; they are found in the River Basins of the Amazon and the Orinoco River.
Sexing
The males will have pointed dorsal fins and display a deep red colouration. Females will take longer to mature.

Feeding: Piaractus brachypomus (Red Belly Pacu) will accept most foods. Their diet should contain vegetables and the amount of vegetables they are feed can effect their tendency to eat plants.

Breeding
As of yet there are no reported cases of these breeding in the aquarium, it is believed that in the wild they will deposit their eggs and leave them with no parental skills.

Lifespan
The expected life span for these fish is 25+ years.

Short description
To keep these fish properly, a very large tank is required. As juveniles, they can be kept in small groups but as they mature, it is best to keep a single specimen as they will become very territorial.

Peacock Bass (Cichla Oscellaris)-9

Origin

South America; these fish are found in the waterways of Guyana, Venezuela, and Brazil.

Sexing
There are no visible differences between the sexes except at spawning times when the female’s papilla will be more rounded. Mature males may develop a nuchal hump.

Feed this fish a varied diet consisting of quality pellets, earth worms, beef heart, mussels and spinach.

Breeding
There are no reported cases of these breeding in the aquarium but in the wild they are believed to lay the eggs in pits dug out of the muddy substrate. When the fry are free swimming the male will chase the female away.

Lifespan
It is believed that the life span of these fish is 15+ years.

Short description
The Peacock Bass will eventually outgrow a home aquarium. They require excellent filtration with regular water changes as they are high waste producers. Rocks and sturdy plants should be added to the tank, a tight fitting lid is a must as they can jump when startled.

(Pearl Of Likoma (Melanochromis Exasperatus

it is from near Likoma Island in Lake Malawi commonly called an exasperatus.

Melanochromis is a of fish from the family Cichlidae endemic to Lake Malawi. The genus was established by Ethylwynn Trewavas in 1935 and contains 24 species (at present). Melanochromis are typically small, elongate fishes with longitudinal stripes. They are members of the mbuna group of Lake Malawi cichlids. They are very aggressive, particularly amongst conspecifics and similarly patterned heterospecifics.

The female has a silver body with orange speckles almost identical to the Labidochromis textilis.
The color was unusually bright

Males are silvery blue, darker blue in the case of dominant males.
.They have yellow egg spots on the anal fin
Like other Melanochromis this is a very aggressive fish best kept on its
.own in a harem-type setup with one male and several females
Males are likely to view any other cichlid with similar colouration as a potential
